The kids love having them here. Friday night the kids had a slumber party at Papa and Grandma Connie's hotel room, after they went to the movies. They swam in the pool hotel, which is always a highlight for them! Meanwhile, Neil and I got a quiet dinner out at the Olive Garden with Ava, which was wonderful. :)
Saturday we all went for a hike at Hawk Mountain, which is about 45 minutes from our house. The weather was great, a little cool but nice for being out and about. The kids did great during the hike, I was impressed that they didn't complain at all!
After that we came home and got ready for the annual Halloween Parade in our town. It is always a big deal, people reserve their "spot" to watch the parade sometimes early in the morning! We walked up and found a great spot next to our friends, Joe and Karine Henseler. Joe is the Sr High youth pastor at our church and they live only about 2 blocks away from us, which comes in handy! Spencer collected candy throughout the parade with Shep and Wyatt and Evan walked in the parade with his Boy Scouts troop. He was very excited to be there. Ava did pretty good during the parade, in spite of the loud sirens, and she actually fell asleep on Grandma Connie! It was very sweet.

Bye Bye Binky
Better late than never . . .

Okay, so I am finally showing you pictures from the kids first day of school, yes, it was almost a month ago, but hey! It still hasn't been a month yet, so that is good . . . or so I tell myself. ;)Becca has her "Safety Patrol" belt on . . . since she is in fifth grade she has been given the responsibility to make sure kids are acting in a safe and appropriate manner before and after school.
Commercialized
I was grocery shopping last week with Spencer. As we came to the freezer section, he asked me if I could get him some frozen waffles. I said sure and picked them out. A woman was passing and said, "They always want what is on the commercials". I smiled but thought, "Whatever! Spencer doesn't want waffles because of a waffle commercial. Do they even have those?" . . . NOT THAT I THINK HE IS IMMUNE to the commercials, I just truly didn't think off a kid oriented commercial about waffles. So anyway, just as I was finishing that thought, I hear Spencer start singing very loudly, "Eggo my eggo" . . . well now. Guess I just didn't see that one coming!
