Chalkboard Wall

So here is a little something I did when I was bored one day.  I had a quart of chalkboard paint left over from some projects so I painted a random wall in the kitchen.  It is fantastic.  We use it for writing random notes, verses, quotes, planning out our summer schedule, chores, sight words and more.  It is messy most of the time and I wouldn't have it any other way.

PS: I love being able to schedule this so that while I am out of the country, blog posts can still be posted. :)

Crafty with Old Leather (with tutorial link)

One of my good friends asked me to make some leather cuff bracelets for her nieces for Christmas gifts.  They are made out of old leather belts.  It was so much fun to do.  One of my favorite things to do is getting crafty and creative!  Now I just hope she loves them as much as I do! ;)

Edited to add:  I am far too lazy,  I mean, busy to do a tutorial so I will just show you the one that got me started. It is by a friend of mine from high school who is super talented and crafty.  Alicia does a great tutorial HERE  if you want to learn how to do this.  I look for cheap leather belts at yard sales and at the Goodwill, there are so many awesome ones that you can get for like a couple bucks or less (50 cents is my typical yard sale price).  I have advanced to the stage where now I try new things like the stamping of metal accessories, etc.  Yep, so advanced.  haha
If you try it, let me know how it goes!

The Break Up

Dear Newspaper Route,

The end is near.  We are counting down your last days.  Neil now has eight guitar students.  Just TWO students more and we will be kicking you to the curb.  Our relationship with you will be over.  And while we are thankful for the time we had with you, the memories we shared . . . . it will be time to move on.  We (and by we, I mean Neil) have been looking forward to the days of sleeping all through the night, without interruption, for a very long time.  This next summer, we may even be able to introduce our children once again to the concept of a family vacation.  Maybe, just maybe.  And don't worry, I am sure the right person is out there for you.  As they say, there are always more fish in the sea.

Sincerely,

Love, Paint, and Art Craftiness

During the month of September, my sister Vanessa and I have some of our artwork and homemade cards on display at Homer's coffeehouse in Overland Park.  It was really fun to do this with her, and getting crafty is one of my favorite things to do with all of my spare time (wink).  My little sister inspires me constantly.  I was happily surprised last weekend when one of my pieces sold . . . makes me feel like an official artist.  Sort of.

Playing with paint and getting messy = sweet happiness.

Family Rules, adapted

Today I thought I would share with you a project I did that I shared on the Scrapbook Page's blog.  It was a lot of fun to do.  Maybe it will inspire you, too!

Any scrapbookers?

Do you enjoy scrapbooking? I love it, I just need more time to devote to it. Here is another one of my favorite websites. If you scrap, this is the place to go!
