You Are Invited . . .

My blog isn't letting me add pictures. I keep coming back to it later, but now I am just plain annoyed about it.

Anyway!

I am having a slumber party on November 16th to celebrate my birthday. If you are reading this (and are a ), then you are invited! In reality, I know that you probably can't come because of distance . . . but if you happen upon a stash of cash that you forgot you had, please know I would love to have you join us! My friend Aminah has offered up her inlaws (vacation) home in the Poconos Mountains, about an hour from my house. YAHHH. You know I am all about socializing, it is one of my favorite things to do.

Spencer says . . .

The other day I was driving home from aerobics with Spencer and Ava. Spencer says to me, "Mom, remember how you told me that you can't marry somebody in your own family?" I say, "Yes". He says, "Well, then how come you and daddy got married?" The way he said it was as if I had lied to him! I explained how daddy and I were not in the same family until after he asked me if I wanted to be his wife and then we got married. So he thought for a minute before saying, "So what if I ask somebody to marry me and then they say no? DO I just go find somebody else instead?" I said yes, and tried not to laugh. If only it were that simple, right?

What I am thinking about . . .

Comparison destroys contentment.

This statement has been on my mind today. I fall into the comparison trap a lot but really, don't most women? As a mother, I compare myself to other moms. I compare my parenting to theirs. I compare my business success (or lack thereof) with all those other really successful Arbonne consultants. I compare how my house looks, from cleanliness to decor. I compare my spiritual-ness. And on and on. All the ways that I don't "measure up".

But then, there is 2 Corinthians 12, where Paul is talking about having a thorn in his flesh and asking the Lord to take it from him, and the answer is no. He goes on to say (vs.10), "That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." So I am trying to be thankful for all my weaknesses today.
